Bike Light Lumens Guide for Indian Roads
Lumens measure total light output, but beam shape, mounting angle and runtime determine whether a bicycle light works well on the road. Being seen and seeing an unlit route are different jobs.
Visibility versus road illumination
A daytime or urban visibility light helps other road users notice you. Riding on dark roads requires a front light with a controlled beam that illuminates the surface ahead without dazzling approaching traffic.
A rear light should be mounted where bags, clothing and the rear wheel do not block it. Use a mode and brightness suitable for traffic and weather.
Runtime and charging
Compare claimed runtime at the brightness you will actually use, not only the lowest flashing mode. Cold batteries, age and repeated charging can reduce runtime.
For longer rides, carry a backup or choose replaceable power options where appropriate. Inspect charging-port covers before wet rides and follow the manufacturer water-resistance instructions.
Mounting and maintenance
Secure the light so vibration cannot change its aim. Clean lenses, check straps and brackets, and recharge before the battery becomes deeply discharged.
