Bicycle Maintenance Schedule for Indian Conditions
Maintenance intervals depend on weather, distance, riding surface and component design. Frequent light checks are more useful than waiting for a fixed annual service after problems appear.
Before every ride
Check tyre pressure and condition, brake operation, wheel security and any unusual movement or noise. Confirm that lights and electronic shifting batteries have enough charge for the route.
A quick visual inspection can catch cuts, loose fasteners, leaking sealant and damaged cables before they interrupt a ride.
After dust or rain
Wipe the frame and drivetrain, dry the bicycle and lubricate the chain only after cleaning. Keep lubricant away from brake surfaces. Do not use high-pressure water around bearings, suspension seals or electronics.
Monsoon riding may require more frequent chain care, brake-pad checks and cable or bearing inspection.
Periodic workshop checks
Measure chain wear, inspect brake pads and rotors, check wheel trueness and spoke tension, and examine tyres for damage. Service bearings, suspension and hydraulic brakes according to manufacturer guidance and riding conditions.
